Week 9 Reflection: Twitter

This week we have talked about twitter in class. This is kind like a quick blog, so I can update the new and interesting things that happened about or around me. You can tell your friends your website so they can check your blog as well. In this way, twitter can be used in daily lives.
Twitter can also be used in language teaching and learning. Learners can search certain topics on the twitter in target language, such as food, entertainment, music. The more the learners expose to target language, the better the learners can understand the culture and topics about target language. Teacher can ask student to go to twitter to search certain topics and ask them to give a presentation on those topics, in that way, students read the website in target language and summarize information from that website to practice reading and speaking skills.
Twitter has a lot of pictures which makes it a vivid way of learning language. The varieties of topics, the colorful pictures, will all help learners to learn language better and faster.

Week 8 reflection-Audioboo

Audioboo is a really interesting tool. Jena gave a presentation by using audioboo. It is very clear and can be nicely used in classroom instructions. Doctor Smart has created a resturant clip on audioboo as well.
In my opinion, audioboo can be used to teach listening and speaking class. As for listening class, the teacher can post a voice record to audioboo and ask his/her students to check it, listen to it and answer certain questions. As for speaking, the teacher can create a question through audioboo and ask students to answer the question by recording their answers.
This is really a useful tool and easy to use.

Week 7 Reflection Synchronous CMC

Synchronous Computer-Mediated Communication can be a very efficient way in teaching language. There are many tools can be used such as Skype, you can communicate with each other by using skype. There are also other types of tools can ve used as well, such as on-line chatting system. Google docs is also a helpful tool for teachers and students to share information or learning materials.

Turkan and I tried google Hangout in class, but it seems like it doesn't work well. However, we found out that learners can use google hangout to communicate with each other and maybe also play games and type information.

By using these tools, teachers can create certain activityies and ask students to finish them on line by cooperate with others. They can work in pairs, in groups. By using CMC tool, there are a lot of possibilities of naking your class more interesting and effective.
